Dordt Basketball Adds Huyser

Rock Valley, Iowa — Cole Huyser, a senior at Rock Valley High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.

“Cole is a winner and has been successful in many sports seasons. He is versatile and can do a lot of things well on the basketball floor. We look forward to his growth as a player, teammate, and a man of faith,” said Dordt basketball coach Brian Van Haaften.

Huyser averaged nine points, 2.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals in 2020-21 while earning all-Siouxland Conference third-team honors. He also earned the Academic All-Conference award and was a first-team all-district selection in football.

“I chose Dordt because I loved my visit and everyone I talked to wanted a more personal connection and didn’t act like I was just another student. Another reason was that I didn’t want to be done with basketball and they gave me an opportunity to play again,” said Huyser.

Cole is the son of Chris and Arlana Huyser of Hull, Iowa. He plans to study Business Administration at Dordt.
