Iowa Women Race Past No. 18 Kentucky In The NCAA Tournament

San Antonio, Texas — The Iowa Hawkeye women are headed back to the Sweet-16.

Rob Brooks and Jamie Cavey-Lang on the Hawkeye Network. Freshman Catlin Clark scored 35 points as the Hawkeyes beat 18th ranked Kentucky 86-72, a game they led by 27 points at halftime.

Clark says hard work paid off for a young team that entered the season with few expectations.

The Hawkeyes shot a sizzling 57 percent as they improve to 20-9 on the season.

It is the Hawkeyes’ third trip to the Sweet-16 in their last four appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Iowa coach Lisa Bluder.

The Hawkeyes jumped out to an 11-0 lead at the outset and put the game away by outscoring Kentucky 26-11 in the second quarter.
