Dordt Volleyball Sweeps 11th Ranked Grand View

Des Moines, Iowa — Dordt was in control of much of its match with Grand View on Tuesday afternoon in Des Moines and secured a 3-0 win over the Vikings.

Dordt got out to a 5-1 lead in set one after a block by Alli Timmermans and the lead grew to 18-12 after an attack error by the Vikings. The six point lead never shrunk to less than four until a 7-0 run cut the gap to 24-22 before a service error by Grand View ended it.

A 5-0 run started set two and Dordt fought off a Grand View rally at 12-10. The Defenders pushed the lead to 17-12 on a kill by Grace Langemeier and an attack error got the lead up to 18-12 and Dordt won it by an eventual 25-15 score.

Grand View got a 6-2 lead in set three but Dordt was able to come back and tie it eventually with a block by Alli Timmermans and Jori Bronner. A kill by Timmermans gave Dordt a 12-11 lead and Bronner and Langemeier combined for another block to cap a 4-0 run that gave Dordt a lead it never gave up on the way to a 25-18 win.

Dordt had a 39-33 kills advantage and a .276 kill efficiency to .082 for the hosts.

Grand View had a 4-1 service ace edge but Dordt scored 10 points on blocks to four for the Vikings.

Megan Raszler had 17 assists and a service ace with five digs. Corina Beimers put up 15 assists and had six digs. Jessi De Jager accounted for 10 kills and Corrina Timmermans had eight. Langemeier put down six kills and Brenna Krommendyk and Alli Timmermans each had five. Hannah Connelly got to 19 digs to pace Dordt in that category.

Dordt is now 14-5 and will open GPAC Tournament play on Saturday, April 3 against Midland. The loss was Grand View’s second of the season and the Vikings are now 15-2.

Grand View was 11th in the most recent poll released on March 10 and Dordt was 13th.
