Dordt Men Claim 2020 GPAC Cross Country Title

For the third straight year the Dordt Defender men’s cross country team is the Great Plains Athletic Conference champion. Dordt claimed the 2020 title with a 34 point performance that placed all seven of its counting runners in the top-14 of the field.

Davis Tebben capped the fall 2020 season with a 26:09 to claim runner-up honors behind Doane’s Shawn Kiptoo who ran the 8,000 meter course in 25:44.

Dordt’s pack strength shined through with Franklin Reinders, Joe Anderson and Eric Steiger claiming sixth, seventh and eighth in times of 26:41, 26:49 and 26:51.

Nicolas Veldhorst and Jebadiah Merkle ran 11th and 12th in 26:57 and 26:59 and Brooks De Waard claimed all-GPAC honors with a 14th place time of 27:03.

Dordt’s 1-5 spread was 48 seconds and the 1-7 spread just 57 seconds. All 10 of Dordt’s entrants finished in the top-22 of the 86 runner field.

Northwestern was the team runner-up with 55 points and Doane finished third with 77 points.
