The Dordt Defender men’s basketball team will travel to Fremont, Nebraska to face Midland in conference play on Saturday, November 14. The contest tips off at 4:00.
Midland is 0-2 this season with losses to Grand View (83-77) and Concordia (82-55).
Midland is getting outscored on average 82.5-66 and outrebound teams 43-41. The Warriors convert 36.2 percent of its field goal attempts and foes are making 43.7 percent.
Laurence Merritt is averaging 16 points per game with 3.5 rebounds and Josh Lambert is tossing in 13 points per game with eight rebounds. Bo Sandquist averages 10.5 points per outing and has eight rebounds as well. Merritt and Sandquist have four and three made three-point shots each. The Defender men are 4-0 after beating Kansas Wesleyan (83-80), Bellevue (87-76), Viterbo (77-67) and Presentation (98-59).
Dordt converts 50.4 percent of its field goals while outscoring teams 86.3-70.5 and the Defenders try eight more free throws per game than opponents. Dordt has outrebounded teams 38.5-35 and limit opponents to 43 percent field goal shooting and 28.2 percent three-point shooting.
Jacob Vis scores 16 points per game while getting 6.8 rebounds per game. He is converting 64 percent of his field goals and has six blocked shots. Jesse Jansma scores 14.8 points per game and has nine three-point baskets so far this season and Garrett Franken has a 13.8 points per game average with a team high 7.5 rebounds per contest. Cade Bleeker and Bryce Coppock score 10.0 and 8.5 points per game and Camden Bialas is at 6.8 points per game. Dejay Fykstra has lifted his scoring average to 7.0 points per game.
Dordt will host Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday, November 18 before going on the road to Concordia on Saturday, November 21.
