Aberdeen, South Dakota –The Dordt Softball went 1-1 on Friday in South Dakota.
The Dordt Defender softball team won the 10:00 AM game Friday at Aberdeen, South Dakota on Friday morning against Valley City State.
The Defenders got on the board with a run in the bottom of the first on an Aurora Tyson single that scored Chandler Schemper for a 1-0 lead that stood up until the bottom of the fourth when Schemper clubbed a solo homerun.
Valley City State threatened in the third with a runner at third with two outs and then got runners on first and second in the fourth but came away empty. The Vikings didn’t have a base runner in the final three innings and Dordt’s Abby Kraemer recorded the complete game win.
Kraemer allowed two hits and struck out 11 with no walks in her second win of the season.
Dordt got singles from Kenzie Cunard and Tyson and Schemper had her homerun.
The Defenders had a 3-2 hits advantage and had one fielding error.
The Dordt Defenders lost a 6-1 decision to Northern State in softball action at Aberdeen, South Dakota on Friday afternoon.
Dordt’s Kenzie Cunard opened the game with a single and Karli Olsen sent her to third with a single. With runners at the corners Chandler Schemper got the run across with a ground out but Dordt could do no further damage.
The Wolves scored three in the bottom of the second to take the lead on four hits and added three more in the sixth on three hits.
The Defenders were unable to mount any real threats in the closing frames and saw their record go to 2-2 this season with two more games scheduled for Saturday.
