Dordt Volleyball Can’t Keep Up With Flames

Sioux Center, Iowa — The College of Saint Mary Flames were 3-0 winners over Dordt in GPAC play on Saturday in Sioux Center. The loss drops Dordt to 5-6 in the league with road matches next week against Hastings and Doane looming.

Dordt led early in set one but the Flames rattled off four points in a row to go up 13-9. The Flames kept the lead and built it to 20-14 before Dordt rallied to within 20-18 but a service error stopped the run and Dordt was never closer than three the rest of the set in taking a 25-21 final.

A 10-0 run early in set two took much of the suspense away with Dordt closing the deficit to within 21-18 but the Flames had an answer for Dordt’s rally with Kamryn Willman getting a kill for a 24-20 lead and a block to end the set 25-20.

Set three was event with six ties up to 16-16 but a pair of Dordt attack errors and a kill by the Flames put the lead up to 19-16 and the visitors won the set 25-18.

Dordt had 37 kills to the College of Saint Mary’s 39 and the Flames had a .248 kill efficiency to Dordt’s .185.

Corrina Timmermans had 12 kills to lead Dordt and Jessi Franken had nine while Alli Timmermans recorded seven.

Megan Raszler put up 26 assists and Erica Bousema had 14 digs. Mia Gamet added 12 digs.

The Flames got 10 kills from Kamryn Willman and Elizabeth Dlouhy had nine.

Dordt is 13-8 overall and 5-6 in the GPAC. The Flames are 21-3 and 11-2 overall.

Dordt will face Hastings on Friday, October 22 and Doane on October 23.
