Sioux Center, Iowa — The Dordt Defenders lost a 3-1 decision to Jamestown on Friday night, October 1 in a GPAC match played in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Dordt never trailed in set one and maintained a comfortable margin through out in taking a 25-15 win. The Defenders limited Jamestown at the net and had a .262 kill efficiency in the set to take the 1-0 lead in the match.
Set two had the Defenders down 4-3 after a Corina Huff kill for the Jimmies and that started a six point run that ended with Dordt trailing 9-3. Dordt closed to within 15-9 after a Danielle Vande Voort kill but four points in a row pushed the difference to 10 and Jamestown won by the 25-16 margin.
A 5-2 start by Jamestown in set three proved to be enough as Dordt got no closer than 10-8 and lost 25-15 and a 12-4 start by the visitors in set four proved to be too much to overcome in falling 25-11.
Dordt was led by Alli Timmermans and Corrina Timmermans with nine kills each.
Jessi Franken added eight kills and Grace Langemeier four.
Erica Bousema accounted for 21 digs and Corrina Timmermans had 13 and Makenna Kooima 16.
Dordt had 12 points from blocks with Vande Voort getting nine block assists and Alli Timmermans had seven.
Megan Raszler had 24 assists.
Jamestown had a 53-33 kills advantage and had three service aces to Dordt’s one.
Dordt had 12 points from blocks and Jamestown had seven.
Dordt is now 11-5 overall and 2-4 in the league while Jamestown stays unbeaten at 18-0 and 8-0.
Dordt will host Morningside on Wednesday night, October 6.
