Dordt Women Battle GPAC Frontrunner Tuesday

The Dordt Defender women’s basketball team will play a game at home against Briar Cliff on Tuesday, November 24. The contest starts at 6:00.

The Briar Cliff women are 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the GPAC. The Chargers have wins over Dakota Wesleyan (80-63), Mount Marty (86-54) and the College of Saint Mary (68-47).

Briar Cliff outscoring teams 75.2-55.4 and outrebound teams 35-30.8. Briar Cliff has a 45.3 shooting percentage and is converting 34.2 percent of its three-point shots. The Chargers limit teams to 40.6 percent field goal shooting and Briar Cliff also gets to the free throw line six times more per game than its opponents.

Dordt is 2-3 this season with wins over Grand View (75-64) and Midland (70-58) and losses to Dakota State (79-60), Sterling (80-71) and Concordia (73-62).

Dordt is getting outscored 70.8-67.6 through five games. Dordt has outrebounded teams 46-37.6 but have converted 36.4 percent of its field goals and 28.8 percent of its three-point shots. Teams are making 40.1 percent of its field goals and 33 percent of its three-point shots against the Defenders.

Bailey Beckman leads the team with 12.8 points per game average while Karly Gustafson is averaging 10.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest while converting 50 percent of her field goals. Erika Feenstra adds 11.0 points per game with 5.6 rebounds and Ashtyn Veerbeek is good for 8.6 points per game with a team high 8.4 rebounds per game. Mya Chmielewski adds 7.4 points per game in a reserve role and Baylee Tetzlaff is good for 4.2 points per game.

Dordt will travel to Morningside on Wednesday, December 2 and will host Doane on Saturday, December 5.
