Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz Previews Iowa State
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says the Hawkeyes plan to continue rotating quarterbacks after both Hank Brown and Jeremy Hecklinski played in a 40-0 season-opening win over Northern Illinois.
Brown finished 12-of-20 for 129 yards and a touchdown. Hecklinski went 7-of-16 for 76 yards and a score, with one interception.
Ferentz says recent history suggests another close game.
Ferentz adds that on a national scale, the Cy-Hawk rivalry is under-appreciated.

Iowa State coach Jimmy Rogers says he learned quickly how important the rivalry is after taking the job. Saturday will be his first Cy‑Hawk game as head coach.

Rogers says it takes a level of toughness to win games like these and it starts in practice.
Rogers was the defensive coordinator for South Dakota State in 2022 when Iowa won an infamous 7-3 decision in Kinnick Stadium by registering a field goal and two safeties. Rogers says this Hawkeye offense is more explosive.
