Former Mustang earns GPAC Indoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week

Former George-Little Rock Track and Field standout Payton Mauldin has earned the Great Plains Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete-of-the-Week as announced by the GPAC Wednesday.

Mauldin, a senior, from George, Iowa, who runs for Dordt University in Sioux Center, hit the ‘A’ standard in two events at the Jim Emmerich Invite last weekend in Brookings South Dakota. Running against NCAA D-I and D-II competition, Mauldin finished second to an unattached runner in the 800m with a time of 1:51.03, a time that is the second fastest in the NAIA this season trailing only his own time from December. Mauldin followed with a 46.3 split while running the anchor leg in the 4×400 relay that finished with the top time in the NAIA to date.
