Former Orab With Mariners Class A Clinton Lumber Kings

Zeutenhorst-baserunner-300x200Former Sheldon Orab and former Iowa Hawkeye baseball standout Taylor Zeutenhorst is now playing for the Seattle Mariners Class A affiliate in Wisconsin. After spring training ended Taylor was assigned to extended spring training to work on infield. The Mariners are looking to use him in a utility player role.

He played mostly Advanced A with one AAA game in spring training and was told he would be the first out of extended spring training if someone got hurt. He was then sent to Bakersfield California to Seattle’s advance A affiliate. He played 8 games until the injured player returned to the team. At Bakersfield Taylor was 4 for 26 hitting .154 with 1 RBI and 2 walks.

Zeutenhorst-in-field-300x200Tuesday May 5th he was flown to Apple Valley Wisconsin to join the Clinton Lumber kings, Seattle’s A affiliate. He was in the starting lineup Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as a DH and is off to a good start. Monday May 11th Zeutenhorst was went 2 for 4 with a single and a homerun, and 2 RBIs. Tuesday he was 0 for 4 but bounced back Wednesday going 2 for 5 with a double and 3 RBIs.

Listed as a right fielder his current line for Clinton is 13 at bats with 4 hits and 4 RBI. Taylor is hitting .308 with an on base percentage of .308 and a slugging percentage of .615.
