BHRV vs Sioux Center Football Preview

Hull, Iowa — It’s the opening round of the playoffs for Class 3A through 5A Friday night. Boyden Hull Rock Valley will open at home against district rival Sioux Center at AR Hesla Field in Hull.

The Nighthawks are coming in at 9-0 with a win last week at Bishop Heelan. Sioux Center won their way into the field of 16 with a home win  over MOC Floyd Valley to finish at 5-4.

Warriors Head Coach Tim Van Regenmorter had  these thoughts on the rematch.

While it seems like a rivalry game with a lot of familiarity it’s really not.

The first key to a win playoff or otherwise is turnover margin. After that it’s a matter of consistency for Sioux Center.

Looking at the leaders for the Nighthawks senior quarterback  Tanner Te Slaa has passed for 1492 yards going 77 of 112 with 20 touchdowns. Senior Landyn Van Kekerix leads the ground game with 465 yards on 35 attempts for 12 touchdowns. He also had 476 yards receiving with 9 touchdowns. Senior Caleb Kats is the yardage leader with 28 receptions for 515 yards and 7 touchdowns. On defense Van Kekerix is the leading tackler with 46.5 including 7.5 for a loss with 1.5 sacks.

Senior quarterback Zach Rozeboom leads the offense for Sioux Center. He’s passed for 1308 yards completing 98 of 183 for 12 touchdowns. He’s the leading rusher with 125 attempts for 446 yards and a pair of scores. His leading receiver is senior Brett  Schouten  with 36 catches for 641 yards and 6 touchdowns. Senior Dao Keokhamthong leads the defense with 46 tackles including 3 for a loss with 2 fumble recoveries and a pair of interceptions.

Jon and Justin Hellinga will have the call on KIWA FM 105.3 from AR Hesla Field in Hull with pregame at 6:30 and opening kickoff at 7:00. The game will be streamed as well from the website at www.kiwaradio.com.
