(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following men’s outdoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for events held April 5-11, 2021. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2020-2021 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Field Events – James Gilbert Jr., Northwestern College
James Gilbert Jr. from Northwestern College is this week’s field athlete-of-the-week. Gilbert, a sophomore from Orlando, Florida, won both the long jump and triple jump on Saturday, turning in a GPAC-leading mark of 7.28m in the long jump which ranks fourth in the NAIA. He then won the triple jump with a leap of 14.2m, third best in the GPAC and 15th best in the NAIA. Later, Gilbert Jr. anchored the 4×100 relay to a second-place finish.
