Dylan Hendricks earned All-American honors in leading the Northwestern College men’s cross country team in Friday’s NAIA National Championship held at the Seminole Valley Cross Country course in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Hendricks was one of four Northwestern runners to record a personal best time as the senior completed the 8K course in 25th place with a time of 25:10. Hendricks is the second runner in program history to earn the national honor (Will Norris – 2016) and his 25th place finish is the second best finish by a Red Raider at the national meet.
Northwestern placed 21st out of 37 teams at the 2020 championship, totaling 536 points.
Jakob Van Der Werff ran a personal best in the final race of his sophomore season, placing 110th with a time of 26:20. Joshua Van Dusseldorp was close behind, in 142nd place and completed the 8K course in a time of 26:42. Nick Bernhagen closed out his cross country career with a time of 26:50, good for 155th place. Both Ian Wiersma (189th – 27:16) and Riley Chartier (203rd – 27:26) ran personal bests today and Levi Cross rounds out the line-up by placing 270th and and a time of 28:26.
Taylor (Ind.) won the team title with 73 points, 41 ahead of Huntington (114). A pair of Oklahoma City runners finished 1/2, led by Zouhair Talbi, who completed the course in a record time of 23:45, followed by Shimales Abebe (24:05).
