Iowa Baseball Focused On Northwestern

Iowa City, Iowa — Iowa baseball coach Rick Heller is concerned a conference-only schedule may hurt the Big Ten when NCAA bids are handed out.

Heller points to softball in which the league only had three teams get into regional play.

After dropping two of three at home to Illinois the Hawkeyes sit in fifth with a record of 22-16. They open a three game series at Northwestern Friday afternoon.

Heller says the Hawkeyes can’t focus on what they need to do over the final six games to boost their tournament hopes.

Iowa beat Northwestern twice in Iowa City but Heller says the Wildcats are much better at home.

The series runs through Sunday.
