Four newcomers join 10 returning players from a team that finished 24-13.
All Big Ten guard Bennett Stirtz and his 18 points per game must be replaced, and his absence will be felt down the stretch of close games.
How the Hawkeyes play will be different this season.
McCollum has made building the fan base a priority. Attendance was up more than 2,000 fans per home game last season, and ticket sales have risen sharply going into this season.
The schedule features two nonconference games in Des Moines and one in Sioux City.
The Hawkeyes open the season at home on November 3rd against Lipscomb.
