An Iowa umpire worked home plate Thursday night as the Philadelphia Phillies downed the Minnesota Twins 7-1 at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville. Bruce Dreckman is from Marcus.
Dreckman went to umpire school after graduating high school and worked seven years in the minors before being elevated to the big leagues.
Dreckman began umpiring fast pitch softball games in northwest Iowa at the age of 12.
