Iowa State’s Hunter Dekkers On Big 12 Opener Against Baylor

Iowa State quarterback Hunter Dekkers hopes the rapid growth of a young offense continues in Saturday’s Big 12 open against 17th ranked Baylor.

Dekkers has completed more than 74 percent of his passes and has eight touchdowns in a 3-0 start.

This series has featured close and hard fought games.

Dekkers says Baylor’s speed on defense is a concern.

The former West Sioux Falcon has leaned on senior receiver Xavier Hutchinson in the first three games. Hutchinson has 28 receptions, including five for touchdowns.

Iowa State safety Anthony Johnson expects a hard fought game on Saturday. ISU dropped a 31-29 heartbreaker in Waco last season.

Johnson expects this game to go into the fourth quarter as well.

The 2018 game in Ames featured a fight that led to the ejection of several players.
