Iowa City, Iowa (RI) — Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says the Hawkeyes will play two quarterbacks in Saturday’s season opener against Northern Illinois.

Hank Brown and Jeremy Hecklinski remain locked in a competition that Ferentz says is still too close to call.

Ferentz says the staff wants to see both quarterbacks in game action.

Ferentz says they will develop a plan for how each will be used.

Ferentz says Iowa will continue to rotate both until a starter emerges.

Kickoff between Iowa and Northern Illinois is 3:15 p.m. Saturday at Kinnick Stadium. We will broadcast that matchup on KIWA FM 105.3.
