The 14th-ranked Hawkeyes take a 4-0 record into Saturday’s home matchup against fifth-ranked Ohio State.
Ferentz says not only do the Buckeyes rarely lose; they also rarely find themselves in close games.
The Iowa defense faces a major challenge against Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith. The Heisman Trophy candidate is averaging 154 receiving yards per game and already has seven touchdown catches this season.
A stronger running game could be key for Iowa this week. In victories over Iowa State and Michigan, the Hawkeyes averaged fewer than 76 rushing yards per game.
