Jackrabbits Host UND In Finale

Brookings, South Dakota — The South Dakota State University football team will make one final claim in its quest for a 10th straight trip to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs as it hosts North Dakota in both squads’ regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.

Kickoff for the Military Appreciation Day game is set for 2 p.m. The South Dakota State football senior class will be honored in pre-game ceremonies and the 2021 class of the Jackrabbit Sports Hall of Fame will be recognized at halftime.

The Jackrabbits enter the matchup 7-3 overall and 4-3 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference after a last-second, 23-20 loss last week at South Dakota. SDSU dropped to 12th in this week’s Stats Perform media poll and 13th in the FCS coaches’ rankings.

A playoff qualifier a season ago, North Dakota is likely out of the postseason picture this fall as the Fighting Hawks have stumbled to a 5-5 overall record and a 3-4 mark in league play. UND’s four league losses have been by a combined 20 points and all but one of its previous seven MVFC contests have been decided by seven points or less.

The Fighting Hawks are receiving votes in this week’s media poll.
