Jacobsma To Run At Northwestern

Dawson Jacobsma of Sheldon has signed a letter of intent to continue his cross country and track and field careers at Northwestern College next year.

Jacobsma is a 5’11” distance runner who has competed a combined seven seasons for the Sheldon High School cross country and track teams heading into this spring. Jacobsma qualified for the state cross country meet three times, finishing 49th as a junior and 33rd as a senior. He earned all-conference all four seasons and was named the team’s most outstanding runner two times. Jacobsma has personal bests of 4:50 in the 1600m, 10:36 in the 3200m and 16:42 in the 5K. An outstanding student who is a member of the honor roll, Jacobsma plans to major in elementary education at Northwestern. He is the son of Kory and Krissa.

“Dawson is a welcome addition to our men’s cross country and track teams,” said Northwestern head coach Scott Bahrke. “We are excited to watch Dawson continue to improve and reach his full potential as a distance runner. Dawson’s team-first mentality is a great fit for our program.”
