Jonathan Krogman and Jarrett Roos Compete at AAU Elementary National Wrestling Duals

wrestling matKingsport Tennessee — A pair of elementary school wrestlers from the KIWA listening area competed for the Iowa Gold Team at the 2017 AAU Elementary National Wrestling Duals this past weekend. The Nationals were hosted by Kingsport Tennessee April 7th, 8th and 9th. The Iowa Gold Team finished 8th out of 26 teams at the national event.

Jarrett Roos won 3 of his matches at the nationals wrestling at 95 pounds. He won a 10-3 decision over a wrestler from the Southern Illinois Gunslingers. He won by fall in :47 seconds against a wrestler from Team PA West and also posted a 4-0 decision over a wrestler from Team Tennessee Black in his final match of the tournament. Jarrett a Sheldon 5th grader is the son of Kory and Julie Roos.

Also wrestling for the Iowa Gold Team was Jonathon Krogman who posted a trio of wins at 100 pounds. The first was a 2-1 decision over a wrestler from Mooresville Wrestling Club. The second win was a tech fall over a wrestler from Morris Fitness. His final win came by fall in :45 seconds over a wrestler from Team Tennessee Black. It was his final match of the tournament.  Jonathon a Sibley Ocheyedan 6th grader is the son of Nick and Tonja Krogman of Sibley.

All told three Iowa teams competed at the national duals. Iowa Black was 4th out of 26 teams while the Iowa Lil Hawks were 22nd out of the 26 teams at the nationals.
