Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Knights Of Columbus held their annual Free Throw Contest, which took place on Saturday, Feb 1 at the Wansink Center on the VNU Campus.
The winners in each age and gender division advanced to the district competition which was held on Sunday, Feb 9. At the district level of competition, Gavin Strouth and Dylan Iedema won in their division at the local level, and therefore both automatically advanced to the regional competition, which was held on Sunday, Feb 23 at Remsen. Hunter Getting finished second at the district level of competition but advanced to the regional competition, as the first place winner was not able to attend.
At the Regional level which was held today, Sunday, Feb 23 at Remsen, Gavin won in his age division, shooting 24 of 25 free throws. Gavin now advances to the state competition which will take place on Sunday, April 4 at the DMACC campus in Boone, Iowa. Gavin was the only one of the three to advance.
