Langeraap Resigns As Blades Coach

Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt College athletic director Glenn Bouma has announced John Langeraap has resigned his position as head coach of the Dordt Blades hockey team.

Langeraap recently completed his fourth season as the Blades’ head coach and guided the Blades to a 9-15-2 mark in the 2016-17 season. During Langeraap’s tenure the Blades joined the MidAmerica Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) while continuing their national membership in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) as a Division III member.

Bouma said, “I thank John for his dedication to the Blades’ program. His work as a recruiter and mentor leaves the team in a healthy position. He’s respected in the ACHA and was a leader in the MACHA. We wish him well as he focuses his time and energy on his business enterprise. He has served Dordt College well as an assistant coach and head coach.”

Prior to serving as the head coach Langeraap was an assistant coach for the Blades and he has been an active member of the Sioux Center Hockey Association since it was formed in 2003.

A search for the next Blades head coach will begin immediately.
