Lions Down Orabs in Regular Season Finale

Rock Rapids Iowa — Central Lyon George Little Rock closed the regular season with a 50-22 home win over the Sheldon Orabs Friday night.

The Lions scored first on a 6 yard jet sweep by Carter Krull. Krull added the extra point and the Lions were up 7-0 with 7:55 left in the first quarter.

CL-G-LR scored near the end of the first quarter on a 3 yard run by Addison Metzger. Krull’s extra point made it 14-0 with :35 seconds left in the first quarter.

Sheldon got on the board when Kaleb Ackerman hit Tyrel Lindemann on a 70 yard pass play. Brian Bernal added the extra point to make it 14-7 with 7:24 to go in the first half.

Kole Telford scored on a 2 yard run and with Krull adding the extra point the Lions went in front 21-7 with 5:37 left in the half.

Sheldon would answer with a 79 yard pass play from Ackerman to Brendan Cain following an Ackerman fumble recovery in the end zone. Tye Sudbeck scored on a 2-point conversion to cut the lead to 21-15 with 4:02 left in the half.

Central Lyon George Little Rock took control of the game when Telford scored his second touchdown of the night on a 4 yard run. Krull added the extra point and the Lions lead went to 28-15 with 1:12 left in the half

The Lions scored on their first three possessions of the second half to take a 50-15 lead. Krull scored on a 10 yard run and added the extra point. That was followed by a 19 yard touchdown pass from Colby Postma to Cooper Spies. The two point conversion was good. The final score was Telford’s third touchdown run of the night with Krull kicking the extra point. Krull was a perfect 7-of-7 on the night.

Sheldon wrapped up the scoring when Tye Sudbeck ended a 63 yard drive with a 4 yard touchdown reception from Kaleb Ackerman.

With the win Central Lyon George Little Rock moves on to the playoffs as the District Champion after going 5-0 through the district schedule. They are 5-4 on the season. Sheldon ends the year at 3-6 on the year and 2-3 in the district.
