Sioux Center, Iowa — Makayla Van Beek, a senior at Sheldon has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender Dance Team.
She was a part of a Sheldon High School Dance Team this year that earned DI in Jazz and DI and 2nd Lyrical at the state competition and earned DI in Jazz and DI and fourth in Lyrical last season. In 2014 and 2015 the team earned DI Jazz and DI and third in Lyrical and DI in Hip Hop. She has danced at the Dance Studio in Sheldon for five years and has been at Robins’s School of Dance for four years.
Dordt College dance coach Mel Knobloch said, “I am really looking forward to having Makayla be a part of our team next year! She has great dance technique and she is also a wonderful performer. She was an excellent leader for the Sheldon High School dance team, and I am confident that she will be the same for the college team next year.”
Makayla Van Beek is the daughter of Brian and Stacie Stofferan and Rich and Lindsey Van Beek. She plans to study Education and Special Education at Dordt College.
