Makenna Kooi to Join Northwestern Volleyball Program

Kooi2Orange City, Iowa — Makenna Kooi from Hull has signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Northwestern College next year.

Kooi is a 5’9” setter who lettered two years for the Western Christian High School volleyball team. Kooi had a standout senior season, helping to lead her team to the class 2A state championship and a 41-6 overall record. She averaged 4.4 assists and totaled 41 blocks as one of the teams’ setters, earning second team all-Lakes conference honors. Kooi also played for the Wolfpack team that won the state championship in 2015. She plans to major in elementary education at Northwestern and is the daughter of Todd and April.

Northwestern head coach Kyle Van Den Bosch said, “Makenna joins the Red Raider volleyball program after leading Western Christian to a state championship last fall. Makenna had an outstanding senior season and played in a lot of big matches throughout her high school career. She has been coached well and will bring good experience and depth to our setter position. We are excited to have Makenna be part of the Red Raider volleyball team.”
