MOC-Floyd Valley’s Sam May To Run For Defenders

Orange City, Iowa — Sam May, a senior at MOC FV High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the track and cross country programs.

“I am excited to welcome Sam to our men’s team. Sam is a driven and talented student and athlete. He has worked hard to experience outstanding success in the classroom and in his running. Those experiences, coupled with his personal discipline will be foundational for his collegiate career. Additionally, he is a fantastic teammate that will have an immediate and lasting impact on our team and at Dordt. I look forward to working with him the next four years,” said Dordt cross country coach and assistant track coach Nate Wolf.

May is a four-time state qualifier in cross country and placed seventh at the state meet and is a four-time all-conference performer. He has a personal best of 16:12 on a 5,000 meter cross country course. He finished second in the 800 meters at the state meet and sixth in the 1,600 meters. He has personal bests of 1:56 and 4:26 respectively in those two events and was the Siouxland Conference champion in both events in 2021. May helped the Dutch to three conference titles and three state meets in cross country during his career.

“Coach Wolf is an amazing person and coach. I felt so welcomed by the team and Dordt has a very strong program,” said May.

Sam is the son of Mike and Ingrid May of Orange City, Iowa. He plans to enter the pre-med program.
