More Player Comments On Cy Hawk Game

Ames native Joe Evans is looking forward to his final Cy-Hawk game in Jack Trice Stadium.

The former Ames High School quarterback began his career at Iowa as a walk-on and now as a senior defensive end he is one of the captains. As an Ames native he has a unique perspective.

Evans talks about his last trip to Ames in 2021.

Iowa State linebacker Caleb Bacon had a breakout game against Northern Iowa last Saturday. The walk-on from Lake Mills had five tackles and two sacks in a 30-9 win over the Panthers.

Saturday Bacon and his Cyclone teammates will try to beat Iowa for the second straight season.

Defenses at Iowa and Iowa State are both preparing for new quarterbacks leading up to Saturday’s game. Redshirt freshman Rocco Becht took the majority of snaps in the Cyclones’ win over UNI and will get his second start on Saturday.

Cade McNamara led Iowa to a 24-14 win over Utah State and Cyclone corner T.J. Tampa says they have watched McNamara’s film from Michigan to get ready.

Tampa says they keys against Iowa remain the same no matter who the quarterback is.

Tampa is a native of Pennsylvania and says he has learned to appreciate this rivalry.
