Mustangs Fall To Jays In Tournament Play

LeMars, Iowa — The Gehlen Catholic Jays defeated the G-LR Mustangs 59-46 in a girls 1A Region 1 play-in game Thursday night in LeMars.

The Gehlen Catholic Jays led by four early, but GLR battled back and after the first led, 12-11. The Mustangs and Jays would trade the lead throughout the second quarter. With under a minute to go in the half, Gehlen pulled away to a five point lead and headed into the half with a 28-23 lead. Gehlen would slowly pull away in the third, and heading into the final quarter led 43-34. The Jays continued to maintain their lead and went on to win 59-47.

The Jays got a game high twenty-four points from Katelyn Langel and Addison Weber put in thirteen points. The Mustangs had two players in double figures. Mackensie Post had a team high fifteen, while Kayla Gerken added ten points.

With the win, LeMars Gehlen improves to 15-7 on the year and will play Akron-Westfield on Tuesday, February 13th at Akron. George-Little Rock ends their year at 4-18.
