Van Marel and Granstra Named to Shrine All Star Football Game

Northwest Iowa — Ryan Van Marel of the Sheldon Orabs and  Ben Granstra of the Western Wolfpack have been selected to play in the 2018 Iowa Shrine Bowl Football Game. This year’s game will be held on Saturday July 21st, at 4:00 pm in the UNI Dome at Cedar Falls.

The Iowa High School Football Coaches Association selects the Coaches and players for the Iowa Shrine All-Star Football Classic. Van Marel at 6-4 255 pounds was an outstanding lineman and linebacker for the Orabs. Ben Granstra a 6-2 190 pound running back gained over a thousand yards rushing this past season. The Coaches selected 46 players for each Squad. The selections are made from nominations from coaches around the state.

The 2018 game will be the 46th annual All-Star game, which has raised over $2,600,000 for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. There are 19 orthopedic hospitals in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Hawaii, 3 burn centers in the United States and 1 unit in the US that treats all types of cases.

This years game will be played Saturday, July 21st at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls. Kick off is set for 4:00 P.M.
