Bailey Nelson, a senior at Western Christian High School, has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and field program.
Nelson has run the sprints for Western Christian and has been a part of 2016 and 2017 state champion teams in the 4×400 and a third place finishing 4×200 meter relay team at the 2016 state meet. She was a member of a state runner-up finisher in the 4×200 at the 2017 meet and was on state qualifying teams in the 2016 and 2017 sprint medley relays and the 2018 4×400. Her personal best is 59 seconds in the 400 meters.
“Bailey is an excellent sprinter and has shown her versatility by running some 800’s as well. Bailey will be a great teammate and will fit in very well with our long sprinters. We are excite to see what she can accomplish as a Defender,” said Dordt track and field coach Craig Heynen.
Bailey is the daughter of Marvin and Beverly Nelson of Sheldon, Iowa. She plans to study Exercise Science.
