Nighthawks Over Indians 54-6

nighthawk logoPocahontas, Iowa — #5 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley defeated the Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon Indians 54-6 in Pocahontas Friday night.

The Indians opening drive would stall on a quick 3-and-out. BHRV, with field position deep in Pocahontas territory, capitalized on the short field when Brett Moser hit Mitchell Diekevers from 24 yards out for the score. With 9:50 to go in the 1st, it was 7-0 Nighthawks. Another Indians drive would go 3-and-out, and the Nighthawks would again capitalize on a short field. Brett Moser found Jacob Schafer from 15 yards out and the score. Midway through the 1st quarter it was Nighthawks 13-0.

The Nighthawks got back onto the board in the 2nd quarter. Jacob Schafer ran into the end zone from 3 yards out. That play was set up by an Indians muffed punt return. Heading into halftime it was 19-0 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.

BHRV added 2 touchdowns in the 3rd quarter. Brett Moser threw his third TD pass to Kobe Lutjens, and Elliott Van Kekerix scampered from 21 yards out for the score. After 3, it was 33-0 Nighthawks.

The Indians finally got onto the board in the 4th quarter. Chase Boeve returned a Van Kekerix fumble 53 yards for the score to make it 33-6 BHRV.

The Nighthawks found pay dirt 3 more times by the end of the contest, and your final would be 54-6 Nighthawks.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley improves to 4-1 on the year, 3-0 in the district and plays host to Cherokee next Friday.

Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon falls to 0-5 on the year and 0-3 in the district and travels to Rock Rapids to take on Central Lyon/George-Little Rock.
