Nighthawks Victorious in Denison

nighthawk logoDenison, Iowa – The Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley Nighthawks defeated the Dension-Schleswig Monarchs 53-35 in Denison Friday night.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley would capitalize on a muffed punt snap by the Monarchs, taking the ball deep in Denison territory. Myles Van Maanen would find the edge from 29 yards out to make the score 7-0 in favor of the Nighthawks with 9:18 left in the 1st quarter. Denison-Schleswig would score midway through the first on a 1 yard punch by Tristian Whiney, after the 2 point fire drill, it was Denison on top 8-7. Early in the 2nd quarter, Denison would get into the endzone again, this time on a 2 yard QB keeper by Evan Wiebers, pushing the score to 15-7 in favor of the Monarchs.

Shane Solberg and the Nighthawks would respond on the ensuing kickoff, taking it 85 yards to the endzone to put the Nighthawks within 1 early in the second. Brady Post would get an INT the next Monarch drive, and Van Maanen would cash in the turnover from 5 yards out to make it 20-15 with 8:33 left in the 1st half. Ryan Dolieslager would get his turn carrying the ball later in the 2nd quarter. From 1 yard out he would make it 26-15 in favor of BHRV. Denison-Schleswig would get back into the endzone late in the 1st half on a Nhial Biliew 60 touchdown reception to bring the score to 26-21, but Shane Solberg would be wide open down the seam with 1:11 left in the half to push the score to 33-21.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley would put up 20 points in the 3rd quarter. Kyle Bakker would get 2 TD receptions from 7 yards and 65 yards out. Shane Solberg would reverse field from 7 yards out for the rushing touchdown late in the 3rd to make it 53-21. The Monarchs would add 14 in the 4th quarter but the Nighthawks would come away victorious 53-35.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley finishes the regular season at 7-2 overall, 4-2 in the district.

Denison-Schleswig ends their season at 0-9.
