Sioux City, Iowa (RI) — Rivals collide to open the Great Plains Athletic Conference race Saturday night as No. 7 Morningside hosts No. 24 Northwestern.
Morningside opened the season with a win over No. 3 Benedictine. Northwestern fell at FCS Western Illinois, and Red Raiders coach Matt McCarty says it’s always special when these two programs meet.
McCarty says his team will need to execute at a high level.
He adds that despite several new starters on offense, the Mustangs remain explosive.
McCarty says the defense needs to force turnovers.
Morningside coach Steve Ryan says the offense must limit mistakes.
Ryan expects an electric atmosphere under the lights.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at Elwood Olsen Stadium in Sioux City.
