Northwestern 5th, Dordt 8th In GPAC Men’s Golf Championship

North Sioux City, South Dakota — Brock Murphy concluded the 2020-21 season with a top 10 finish in leading the Northwestern College men’s golf team, and Dordt finished eighth at the Men’s GPAC Golf Championship completed on Tuesday, April 27 at Dakota Dunes.

Murphy carded one of the top rounds on the day, a final round 74 (+2), and finished tied for eighth place overall with a 72-hole total of 301 (+13). With the top 10 finish, Murphy earned all-conference honors.

Northwestern shot a final round score of 313 and placed fifth out of 11 teams after the 72-holes with a score of 1,238. The Raiders were three shots in back of fourth place Briar Cliff and finished two strokes ahead of University of Jamestown. Morningside won the team title with a 1,170, finishing 48 strokes in front of second place Doane.

Dordt finished with a 332 for a four day total of 315-310-322-332=1279 in a tournament that spanned the fall and spring season.

Northwestern’s Kolby Newborg closed the championship with a 78 and finished just outside the top 10, tied for 12th with a 72-hole score of 306 (+18). Isaac Knock shot a final round score of 80 and finished alone in 20th place (316 +28) and Ezra Meyer tied for 23rd overall with a 320 (+32), closing with an 84 in today’s final round. Jake Olsen closed his season with a final round 81.

Ryan Feauto completed his Dordt playing career with an 18th place finish while shooting 77-80-80-77=314 and Blake Harmsen carded a 76-78-86-82=322 to tie for 27th.

Two Morningside golfers, Jonny Douglas and Corey Matthey, finished first and second respectively, with a 290 (+2) and 292 (+4).
