Raiders Drop Two Against Mount Marty

Yankton, South Dakota — The Northwestern College softball team dropped a GPAC doubleheader against Mount Marty, 4-3 and 10-0 (5 innings), played Tuesday in Yankton, S.D. The Raiders fall to 12-8 in the conference, 25-13 overall, with four games left in the regular season.

Game One: 4-3 loss
The Lancers scored a run in each of the first and third innings off Northwestern starting pitcher, Kameryn Etherington, to take a 2-0 lead. Northwestern broke through with a run in the fourth; Jessica Mouw led off with a single, stole second and scored off a single by Emily Strasser. The Raiders took the lead with a two-run, four-hit fifth inning. Bri Giordano singled and courtesy runner, Lily Anderson advanced to third on double by Jordyn Kramer; Anderson scored on a bunt single by Madysn Grotewold. Kramer later scored the go-ahead run on a ball hit by Jennifer Boeve. Mount Marty tied the game with a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Bailey Kortan. The Lancers won it on a walk-off single by Kelly Amezcua, scoring Emma Burns.

Game Two: 10-0 loss (5 innings)
The Lancers pushed five runs across in the bottom of the first inning, three in the second and one each in the third and fourth. Kelly Amezcua contributed an RBI double, Sarah Hart a two-run double in the first. Amezcua (RBI double) and Karlee Arnold (RBI triple) had the big hits in the second inning. Northwestern totaled just three hits, all singles; one each for Jessica Mouw, Alayna Bakke and Jennifer Boeve.
