Northwestern College announced its women’s basketball schedule for the 2020-21 season.
The Red Raiders 29-game schedule features seven in non-conference play and the standard 22-game GPAC slate. Northwestern’s 2020-21 opponents compiled a 54% win percentage (471-397) last year; the Red Raiders will play 11 games against teams that finished the season ranked in the NAIA Top 25, one against St.Xavier and two each against the five GPAC teams (Concordia, Hastings, Morningside, Dordt and Dakota Wesleyan).
Northwestern will open the season with a pair of games in Lawrence, Kan. on Oct. 30-31 and then hosts the Northwestern Pizza Ranch Classic the next weekend where they will play Grand View and #6 St.Xavier. Another home game against Dakota State follows and will be the final tune-up before conference play begins.
The Red Raiders will play eight conference games, three home and five away, prior to the Holiday Break. Coach Yaw will then take his squad to California on Dec. 21-22 for games against San Diego Christian and Westcliff.
The final 14 GPAC games will be played after the Christmas break, beginning on Jan. 2 at home against Concordia and ending with a home match-up against Morningside on Feb. 20. The conference tournament begins on Feb. 24 and the NAIA First Round match-ups will be on March 12-13. The 16-team NAIA Championship follows on March 18-23 in Sioux City, Iowa.
