Orab Baseball Team Posts Home Win Over LeMars

Sheldon Iowa — A three run fourth inning put Sheldon in front for good as they earned a 4-1 win over LeMars in non conference baseball Wednesday night at Orab Field.

LeMars scored first as Zach Speiler reached on an error stole second and scored on a Double to right center field by Logan Lancaster.

Sheldon put three on the board in the fourth inning as Marshall Kleinhesslink reached on an error. A Single by Kordell Kooiker scored Ty Sudbeck running for Kleinhesslink. Kooiker eventually scored on a pass ball to put the Orabs up 2-1. Phil Cain walked and scored on an error on a ball put in play by Tyler Lode for the third Sheldon run.

In the sixth Sheldon got an insurance run when Lode reached on an error, stole second and scored on a single down the third base line by Mauro Dominquez to finish the scoring.

Luke Van Beek got the win going 6 and 1/3 innings. With two down in the top of the seventh, Trevor Johnson struck out the only batter he faced for the save. Van Beek had given up 1 run on 3 hits while walking 3 and struck out 4.

Cade Webner took the loss going 4 innings giving up 3 runs on 2 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 4. With the win Sheldon is 1-1 on the year while LeMars falls to 0-3. The Orabs will be at Boyden Hull Rock Valley Thursday. LeMars will be off until Saturday when they host Sioux City Heelan.
