Orab Girls Basketball Fall In Season Opener

Sheldon, Iowa — The Orab Girls Basketball team fell to the West Lyon Wildcats 50-32 at the O-Rena Tuesday night in Sheldon.

West Lyon was down early 4-2, but then took control and never looked back. Mia Hoogeveen put in 9 1st quarter points to help the Wildcats to a 20-11 lead after the opening quarter. Hoogeveen added another 10 points in the 2nd quarter en route to a 36-19 Wildcats lead at halftime. West Lyon finished the 3rd quarter with a 9-0 run to extend their lead to 49-21, and later came away with the 50-32 victory.

The Wildcats had 3 players in double figures. Mia Hoogeveen had a game high 24 points, Lauren Vande Kamp added 14 points, and Jordyn Kramer put in 10 points.

The Orabs were led by Katie Wagner who had a team high 13 points.

West Lyon improves to 1-0 on the year, 1-0 in the Siouxland. Sheldon falls to 0-1 on the young year and 0-1 in the conference.

Next up for West Lyon is a home contest against Okoboji on Tuesday, the 28th. Sheldon stays at home for their next game as they take on Boyden-Hull on Tuesday, November 28th at the O-Rena
