Sibley, Iowa — Sheldon went on the road to Sibley to take on the Generals in Siouxland Conference action. The Generals won the girls game 58-47 and the Orabs won the boys contest 55-41.
The girl’s game was very tight in the first quarter with both teams coming out ready to score ending in a 16 all tie after one. The second quarter was much of the same, but Sibley Ocheyedan would push out slightly and lead 30-26 at half. The Generals kept that momentum going to start the third and extended there lead 49-37 at the end of three. The Orabs were not able to get any closer and would fall 58-47.
The Generals were led in scoring by Madison Brouwer with 20 points. The Orabs were led in scoring by Maliah Kleinhesselink with 20 and Makenna Kleinhesselink would score 17.
The Generals improved to 10-3 overall and 7-3 in the conference and the Orabs would fall to 4-12 and 3-9 in the Siouxland.
The Orab boys started out quickly with some solid defense and pushed out to 7-0 lead prompting a timeout by the Generals. The quarter would end with the Orabs up 8-2 after one. The Orabs kept up the defensive pressure and would push out to a 21-13 lead at half led by Kaleb Ackerman with eight points in the frame. The game was back and forth in the third and the Orabs increased their lead slightly to 33-23 after three. Sibley Ocheyedan was forced to foul in the fourth and the Orabs would take advantage sinking 12 free throws in the quarter and go on to a 55-41 victory.
Shane Brouwer led a trio of Orabs in scoring with 19 followed by Tye Sudbeck with15 and Kaleb Ackerman put in 12. Carter Brouwer led the Generals with 15 points and Dougie Noonkester dropped in 12.
With the win the Orabs improved to 7-8 overall and 4-7 in the conference and the Generals would fall to 6-6 on the season and 4-6 in Siouxland action.
The Orabs will be on the road Friday evening to take on the George-Little Rock Mustangs and the Generals will be on the road to Okoboji to take on the Pioneers.
