Sibley Ocheyedan defended the home floor Tuesday night in their tournament opener. 2A’s number five team downed Hartley Melvin Sanborn 59-31. The Generals will host Sioux Central who downed North Union on the road 44-31 in the other upper bracket quarterfinal.
Sibley Ocheyedan opened on an 11-2 run and led 17-7 at the end of the first quarter. At the half the lead was 26-9. Going into the fourth the Generals were up 49-23 going on to win 59-31.
Sibley Ocheyedan got a game high 24 points from Madison Brouwer and 19 from Marissa Ackerman. The Hawks had two players in double figures getting 12 from Kylee Schiphoff and 11 from Jasmine Lux who fouled out with 5:58 to play.
With the win Sibley Ocheyedan moves to 17-5. HMS ends the season at 7-15. The Generals will host Sioux Central in the Region 2 semifinals Friday night and we’ll bring you the broadcast on KIWA AM 1550/FM 100.7.
