Iowa City, Iowa (RI) — Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says there is still no decision on a starting quarterback as the Hawkeyes shift from fall camp into preparations for their September 5th opener against Northern Illinois.

Hank Brown and Jeremy Hecklinski remain locked in a competition to become the starting signal-caller, and Iowa also needs to decide on a kicker and punter.

Ferentz says it’s possible both quarterbacks could see action in the opener.

He was asked whether the battle was stretched longer than he expected.

Ferentz says a decision will eventually need to be made on who takes the opening snaps against Northern Illinois.
