Three Dordt Women Claim GPAC Honor

Three Dordt College Defender women’s basketball players have earned all-conference honors from the Great Plains Athletic Conference for the recently completed 2017-18 season.

Rachel Evavold (Sophomore; Bloomington, Minnesota) earned second-team accolades while Annie Rhinesmith (Sophomore; Shakopee, Minnesota) and Erika Feenstra (Freshman; Hull, Iowa) both claimed honorable mention honors from the GPAC.

Feenstra put together a strong freshman campaign with an 11.1 points per game average while getting to 4.8 rebounds per game and she converted a school record 89.6 percent of her free throws (95-106).

“Erika came out of the gates on fire pouring in 22 points in our first game of the season.  The first half of the season she struggled finding consistency from game to game as she adjusted to the physicality of the GPAC.  However, in the second half of the season she stepped up and became a consistent presence on the court and dominated the offensive rebounds.  I am excited to see her use this aggressive finish to her freshmen year as a springboard into next season where she has the potential to be a dominating force in the conference,” said Lindbergh.

The Defender women concluded the 2017-18 campaign with a 14-17 record and a berth in the GPAC Quarterfinal round of the post-season tournament.
