Van Kley Added To Dordt Volleyball

Avery Van Kley a senior from Western Christian High School has announced her intention to join the Defender women’s volleyball program.

Van Kley is a defensive specialist that averaged 2.21 digs per set. She had a .922 serving efficiency with a total of 25 aces during the 2017 season. As a senior she earned All-Conference Honorable mention. Avery was part of two state championship teams in 2015 and 2016. She finished her senior year with a season record of 39-7 and as state runner-ups.

“Avery is a gritty and spirited player who gives all she has to help her team succeed. We have watched her skills develop over the years and believe she will have strong contribution through the defensive specialist role. Thanks to coach Tammi Veerbeek for helping Avery compete at a high level. We anticipate great years ahead for Avery as she joins us in August.” said Dordt College women’s volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

Avery is the daughter of Bryan and Candice Van Kley of Sioux Center, Iowas. She is planning to study Elementary Education at Dordt College.
