Western Christian Girls Heading To State

Western Christian 2Rock Rapids, Iowa — The Western Christian Wolfpack are returning to the State Tournament in Des Moines after a 63-50 win over the Rock Valley Rockets in Rock Rapids Monday night in the Girls Class 2A Region 1 Final.

Rock Valley jumped out to a 9-4 lead early, and after one quarter of play had a 13-12 lead. Both teams continued to battle in the 2nd quarter but Western started to take control and at halftime the Wolfpack had a 36-26 lead. Western was able to maintain their distance from Rock Valley in the 2nd half and came away with the 63-50 win.

The Wolfpack got a game high 34 points from Ashtyn Veerbeek and Erica Feenstra added 17 points.

Rock Valley’s leading scorer was Alexis Mousel with 21 points.

Western improves to 22-2 on the year and advances to next week’s State Tournament in Des Moines. The Rockets’ season ends at 17-7.
