Western Christian fell in straight sets to Denver in the Class 2A State Volleyball semifinals.
Early in the first set, Denver went on a 4-0 run to take a 10-8 lead, but Western tied the set back up at 10-10. Denver was the first to 15, at 15-13, then first to 20 at 20-16. Western got back into the set by tying it at 22 all, but Denver went on a 3-0 run to close out the set.
In set 2, the Cyclones were the first to ten at 10-7, and maintained that 3 point advantage to 15-12, and 20-17. Denver closed out the set at 25-22.
Early in set three Western was up early and the first to 10 at 10-5. Later on Denver went on a 5-0 run to take a 14-13 lead. After battling point for point, Denver reached 20 first, with a 20-19 score. The Cyclones went on a 5-0 run to 24-19, and took set three 25-20.
