Western Falls To Okoboji In Overtime

Hull, Iowa — The Western Christian Wolfpack fell to the Okoboji Pioneers in an overtime thriller in a Class 2A District 4 semifinal Thursday night in Hull.

Okoboji jumped out in front and had a 20-14 lead after one and kept the lead at 6, at halftime 35-29. The Pioneers extended their lead to 11 in the third, but Western battled back to get the lead down to two after the third quarter 47-45. Western would get their first lead of the game with 3:25 left in the fourth, but the game would remain deadlock at the end of regulation 57-57. Okoboji hit just enough free throws in the extra frame to get the win 66-62 over the Wolfpack.

The Pioneers had two players in double figures. Lucas Lorenzen had a game high 25, and Jamison Helmers added 24. Western got a game high 21 from Dawson Feenstra, and 16 from Eli Van Essen.

With the win Okoboji improves to 14-9 on the year, and Western’s season comes to an end at 16-6.

Up next for Okoboji is the Class 2A District 4 Final against West Lyon at the Sibley-Ocheyedan gym on Tuesday night.
